Hawken: War is a Machine Review

I was on the internet the other day looking for an online game that will give me a different experience other than the regular MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) out there that I usually like playing where you control your character roam around, kill mobs, finish a bunch of quest (grinding mode on) then level up. I didn't even notice that I spent almost the entire day trying to decide what game a want to download and play. Then I came across a game called Hawken. When I saw the screenshot of Hawken, I said to my self "ok.. looks pretty good.. but how does it play? let me give it a try..". So here's my short review of Hawken War is a Machine.

Hawken gives you the feel of being in a world where mechs (human piloted robots) really exist from the title screen to the gameplay itself. The loading screens of Hawken and the gameplay itself provides the illusion of being in the Hawken world which is not a bad thing as a matter of fact I like it.

The gameplay of Hawken is fast-paced and action packed but still requires strategy in order to win which is good thing. Think about Counter-Strike using mechs. Hawken offer a unique experience which captured the feel of piloting and battling inside a robot (mech).

The game Hawken War is a Machine is free-to-play but has an online store where you can buy upgrades and other stuff for your mech to tip the odds of battle to your side but of course it requires spending money ("You pay, I make you strong" type of thing). I haven't tried buying upgrades from the online store yet because Hawken doesn't really require you to purchase upgrade or power-ups from the store in order to win and that's because you can stand toe-to-toe with "upgraded" opponents even without spending your real cash (depending how good a pilot you are). "upgrading" or buying from the online store in Hawken will definitely give you an advantage over the other players but it doesn't necessarily mean victory all the time ("Skill is still King").

Summary: Hawken is an MMO mech shooter combat game that was developed by Adhesive Games. The game Hawken War is a Machine features an intense battle experience that provides you the feel of piloting your own a mech (robot). It has a fast-paced and strategic feel into it. If you like shooter games specially if you love robots or mech Hawken is the game to play.
